This past February, while I was in Chicago, for a few things, performing at the Chicago Salsa Congress with Larry Harlow and Ray De La Paz and visiting my sister ( she’s a medical doctor) who lives out there and my new-born niece, I was very fortunate to catch up with (and jam with his excellent band at the Chicago congress too), master pianist, arranger, band leader and musical director for many top artists, Edwin Sanchez.
I’m very good friends with Edwin for years, as he lived in NY for a few years, during which time we played together many times with Ray Sepulveda and others and collaborated on several recordings too. He has stayed at my place, and I’ve stayed at his, that kind of friendship. I love him like a brother because he’s a great guy who happens to be an amazing musician.
That’s the reason I asked him to do an interview for Salsa Legends And Masters Academy. He is worthy, without a doubt. If you don’t know of him, you should. Hopefully, this interview/video will educate you as to his history and accomplishments.
